Case-hardened steels

Our case-hardened grades are extremely well suited for punching, fine-blanking and cold-forming. Mainly due to the implemented microstructure and mechanical properties during the cold-rolling process, along with the strict shape and dimensional tolerances employed. When subjected to heat treatment, case-hardened steel components offer excellent core ductility, with outstanding resistance to wear in its surface layers.

Optimum austenite, ferrite and carbide grain sizes in the raw base material, along with the steel's precise, application-specific mechanical properties, allow for use in challenging forming operations and short heat-treatment periods.

By carrying out a range of special processes - taking into account the shape of the component and the degree of deformation required, through application of enhanced manufacturing steps, a significant decrease of draw in at the parts circumference can be achieved in the stamping of fine blanking process. The increased load bearing surface in the cut, might allow for reduction of strip thickness, and with it, weight and cost.
