Spring steels

What do springs, washers, axial bearings, fasteners, handsaws, clutches, seat-belt catches and seat-belt buckles have in common? Each one is produced using cold-rolled spring steel developed specially for the end product. Especially shape and microstructure need to be considered carefully. In some cases it is essential to ensure that the steel can be easily formed, and its microstructure is well-suited for heat treatment. At other times, optimizing tool life and/or the surface finish is the priority. These requirements can only be delivered by pairing top level knowledge of material science with first-rate cold-rolling expertise.

Tempered martensitic and bainitic steels, with decarburized surfaces on request, can be used for a wide variety of applications and ensure availability of ideal base material for each application. Tempered steels are available in a variety of colors, and with brushed, ground and even polished finishes.
